What is NHS? National Honor Society is an organization formed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) to recognize academic achievement and promote leadership and character development in the school. A major tenet of National Honor Society is the commitment to community service. Each student member of the Bloomfield Hills High School Chapter of National Honor Society completes additional hours of community service beyond the service hours required for graduation, a portion of which is devoted to academic tutoring and peer mentoring.

Sponsored Hours vs. Regular Hours
SPONSOREDEvents categorized as "Sponsored Hours" fall under events that are sponsored by NHS. You will know if the event is sponsored, because it will either be posted on this website or sent out in an email from an NHS officer. These hours are important to your requirement in this NHS chapter, as of now you will need 4 NHS sponsored hours, and 6 non-sponsored (or additional NHS hours) for a total of 10 hours to meet the requirement, per each semester.
|
NON-SPONSOREDRegular hours are anything you do outside of the NHS community. These opportunities will not be advertised by NHS, these hours are the exact same as the hours used for the community service requirement in our High School. However, you can not use regular community service hours for both the BHHS requirement, and the NHS requirement.
